Jiwon Son

Korean pianist Jiwon Son is an active soloist, chamber musician and collaborative pianist, recently completing her Artist Diploma at the College-Conservatory of Music. She holds a Bachelors of Music in Piano Performance degree from Ewha Womans University in South Korea and a Master of Music in Piano Performance degree from College-Conservatory of Music where she studied with Professor Soyeon Kate Lee. 

Jiwon began playing a piano when she was 5 years old. She spent  over a decade studying piano and competing in South Korea. After she won first prize in state competition at the age of 8, she started expanding her musical expressiveness and piano repertoires intensively. Virtuosic yet lyrical, her introspective style reflects her passion of music but also highly disciplined musicianship. 

She participated in masterclasses, and received instruction from notable artists such as Choong Mo Kang, Christopher Harding, Norman Krieger, Roland Vamos, Ran Dank, Sandra Rivers, Dror Biran and Vassilis Varvaresos. Notable past performances include Yamaha Artist Concert in Seoul, Bowdoin Music Festival and Ewha Womans University Duo Piano Festival Winners Concert.  

She received Outstanding Freshman Scholarship in Ewha University. Also, she received full scholarship for her Master’s and Artist Diploma in College-Conservatory of Music under the direction of Professor Soyeon Kate Lee.
