Annie Barr McAllister

Annie Barr McAllister, Soprano, is an avid recitalist and teaching artist from Buffalo, New York. In 2021-22, Dr. McAllister was awarded a United States Fulbright Grant to Ireland where she researched and performed Irish song for 10 months in Galway, Ireland. Dr. McAllister’s original music ensemble Mo Ghrá, meaning “My Love” in the Irish language, is an Irish classical trio with voice/pennywhistle, bodhrán, and violin, with songs reflecting the experiences and music inspired by Galway. During her studies at CCM, Dr. McAllister performed operatic roles and was CCM’s inaugural Artist-in-Residence at the Twin Towers Retirement Community in College Hill where she lived and performed monthly recitals that culminated in 40 performances with the aim of inspiring personal expression and youthful living amongst the Residents.
Outside of Xavier University, Dr. McAllister is faculty at the University of Cincinnati, CollegeConservatory of Music where she teaches courses in women in music and voice topics to UC students. With over 10 years of teaching experience, Dr. McAllister has also taught Voice at MYCincinnati, Voice at CCM as a doctoral student, and at many other music schools in the Cincinnati area. McAllister earned a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Voice from the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music, as well as a Masters of Music and Bachelor of Music in Voice at CCM.
