023 Incorporating Art

In this episode we explore the ways that art can be incorporated into the classroom, nature and the home. Mary Lisa talks about art at different ages, art supplies, the value of art instruction as well as art exploration, and why art is valuable for children to experience.

Guest: Mary Lisa Vertuca

Mary Lisa Vertuca is a senior teaching professor and program director for Childhood Education at Xavier. She teaches courses in Play, Integrated Arts, and directs student teaching seminars. She has presented nationally on the topic of Nature, Art, and Play. She is Montessori certified at both the pre-primary and primary levels, and for many years taught in the Xavier Montessori Education Program.
