20 History with Beth Bronsil

Beth Bronsil shares her history with Montessori, talking about the past and the present, being a Montessori advocate, and being open to learning from and with our students.

Beth Bronsil was a traditional teacher from 1960 to 1968 in schools in Rochester New York.
Beth received her Montessori Credential in 1968 from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She received her M.Ed from Xavier in 1969. After receiving her Montessori credential she worked in the first head start program in Rochester New York . She was administrator and teacher for the first Migrant Education program at Brockport State University in New York.
Other experiences include teaching in Lexington, Kentucky and Cincinnati Country Day School. She was also the Co-Director of Ithaca Montessori Teacher Education program from 1974-1977,
Beth was appointed the Director of Xavier University Montessori Teacher Education Program from 1978-2007. She was the first woman at Xavier to receive the teacher of the year award. Beth retired in 2007 and in 2014 she started the free Montessori Program at Thomaston Woods, a housing complex in Amelia, Ohio. I did this for four years.
In Jan. 2017 Beth returned to Xavier as Interim director and retired once more on June 30.
In 2017-2018 she volunteered at the Universal Muslim Academy in their Montessori Early Childhood Program. Beth helped set up the classroom and spent one day a week supporting the teachers.
Beth is married to Ken Bronsil and they have two sons and two grandsons.
