About Us
Xavier's Government Relations Office provides advice and analysis on government affairs to the university’s academic and administrative leaders. They represent the university to external audiences on issues related to public policy, and they monitor state and federal legislation, such as funding opportunities, which are relevant to the University's work. The Government Relations Office at Xavier also collaborates with other University offices to promote a culture of Ignation civic engagement among students, faculty, and staff.
The Government Relations Office is led by Sean Rhiney, who assumed his role as director in 2022. Sean leverages his legal expertise, his deep knowledge of Xavier, and his extensive networks across Cincinnati, Ohio, and the AJCU, to represent Xavier and forge crucial relationships across all levels of government. As the former Director of the Eigel Center for Community Engaged Learning, Sean built relationships with more than 160 nonprofit, government, and community partners that engaged close to 2,000 students and dozens of faculty
each year.
