Dr. Graley Herren
Professor, English Department
Graley Herren is Professor of English at Xavier University, where he has taught since 1998. Before arriving in Cincinnati, he received his B.A. (1992) and M.A. (1994) degrees in English from the University of Tennessee, and his Ph.D. (1998) in English from Florida State University. He specializes in Modern Irish Literature, Modern Drama, Samuel Beckett, Don DeLillo, and Bob Dylan. He is the author of Samuel Beckett's Plays on Film and Television (Palgrave Macmillan, 2007), The Self-Reflexive Art of Don DeLillo (Bloomsbury Academic, 2019), Dreams and Dialogues in Dylan’s Time Out of Mind (Anthem Press, 2021) and numerous articles and chapters on various 20th and 21st century artists. He serves on the executive board for the Comparative Drama Conference, and he edited five volumes of its annual book series Text & Presentation (McFarland, 2012-2016). He lives in Cincinnati with his wife Cathy and their son Dylan. In 2010 he was named as Xavier's Teacher of the Year, and in 2017 he received the Roger A. Fortin Award for Outstanding Teaching and Scholarship in the Humanities.
