On Saturday, June 28th, the City of Cincinnati hosts the annual Cincinnati Pride Parade & Festival.� Xavier will be participating again this year with a walking entry in the Cincinnati Pride Parade.� As in past years, employees, students, and alumni are welcome to participate and walk with the Xavier group, coordinated by ProudXU and the LGBTQ+ Alliance student organization.� Please complete this registration form and additional information, including meetup details will be shared closer to date.� The parade steps-off at 11am from Central and Plum (downtown) and moves to Yeatman's Cove and Sawyer Point.

August planning is already underway for the return to campus with our annual Week of Welcome (WoW) celebration of free events and activities for new and returning Musketeers.� This year's WoW events take place starting Sunday, August 17 through Tuesday, August 26.� Offices and Departments are encouraged to consider submitting engaging and interactive programs to be included in the WoW schedule of events. Friday marks the 15th anniversary of XavierFest, our annual music and food truck festival to celebrate the end of the year for students.� Beginning in 2011, XavierFest continues the tradition of bringing together student performers, local artists, touring musicians, and national headliners along with a flavorful variety of food trucks from around the region to our campus on the Xavier Yard.� We invite the Xavier community to stop by as the music kicks off at 4pm and goes until 9 on top of the Husman Stage.� This year's headliners, Echosmith, take the stage at 8pm.� For more information, visit our site.
Please note, Musketeer Drive will be closed on Friday from the four-way stop at Currito to Bellarmine Chapel.� There will also be some amplified sound on the Xavier Yard beginning at 10am while bands sound check and we prepare for the fest.

Alumni Megan Scharrer (2021) presented on Political Social Work at this year’s social work Alumni Event. She is currently pursuing her MSW at the University of Connecticut where she attended the Nancy A. Humphreys Institute for Political Social Work. While at Xavier, she was active in the immigrants’ rights movement by organizing on campus for immigrant rights and provided case management services for undocumented immigrants while completing her practicum at Su Casa Hispanic Center. As a result, she found a desire to pursue community organizing as her life’s work. After graduating from Xavier,� she moved to Connecticut to work for Make the Road Connecticut as the Hartford Community Organizing. In this role, she worked with� powerful Latina mothers to improve education in the state of Connecticut and Hartford. Together they improved translation and interpretation services in Hartford Public Schools and passed a Parent Bill of Rights for English Language Learners in the 2023� Connecticut legislative session.� Megan� currently works for Hispanic Health Council as the Policy Advocacy Manager where she fights for health equity policy at the local, state, and federal level that ensures vulnerable communities can reach their highest level of health.� She works on state legislative campaigns like Just Cause Evictions, Peer Respites, Husky for Immigrants, Trust Act Now Campaign and the Maternal Health Report Card.� Megan� as well runs a grassroots community group to ensure the policy the Hispanic Health Council advocates for comes from the community.

Recently published peer-reviewed article co-authored by three Xavier faculty
A recent article co-authored by Diane Ceo-DiFrancesco, Professor in the Department of Classics and Modern Languages, Leah Dunn, Associate Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy, and Jennifer Gibson, Associate Professor in the School of Psychology was published in the Journal of Occupation Science.
The article, Fleeing, Waiting, and Hoping: Occupational adaptation as resilience among families at the Mexico-U.S. Border examines the experiences of families in Nogales, Sonora, with findings that highlight family resilience manifested through occupational adaptation and supported by sociocultural aspects of the environment. Funding for the project was provided by a Women of Excellence Grant at Xavier University.

As part of a Sustaining Excellence initiative designed to increase gift revenue and streamline internal operations, Xavier will launch a new online giving platform in July.
The new giving platform, hosted by GiveCampus, will allow Xavier to fundraise more effectively through a modern, user-friendly online giving portal, improved donor communications software and the acceptance of digital wallets as a means of gift payment.
All active fundraising links on Xavier’s website will be replaced as part of this transition. Training and additional transition information will be shared with active fundraisers in the coming weeks.

Moving out next week? Instead of throwing away clean, unwanted items that could be reused, drop them off to the St. Vincent de Paul trailer. It will be parked on Musketeer Dr between Husman Hall and Justice Hall/Currito and open for donations collection Monday, May 5, through Thursday, May 8, from 12:00 to 8:00PM. Thanks for doing your part to care for our common home by keeping these items out of the landfill and providing for our neighbors in need.

Xavier University is pleased to announce the formation of a new honor society, Alpha Alpha Alpha (or Tri-Alpha) Nu Iota Chapter, which recognizes the academic achievements of first-generation college students.�
Tri-Alpha promotes academic excellence and provides members with a multitude of benefits, including opportunities for personal growth, leadership development, campus and community service and the� ability to receive mentoring from more senior first-generation students, as well as faculty, staff and alumni who were first-generation students.

Alpha Alpha Alpha was founded March 24, 2018, at Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Over 100 members of the Alpha Chapter were initiated that day, including undergraduate students, faculty, staff, alumni� and honorary members. Following the successful induction, the college took steps to incorporate Alpha Alpha Alpha so that chapters could be started on other campuses across the country. Tri-Alpha exists as a not-for-profit (501(c)3) organization, for the purposes of supporting the activities of the honor� society.�

Uptown Rental Properties has broken ground on a $48 million apartment project overlooking Wasson Way near the Xavier University in Norwood. The project will include 205 residential units in two four-story buildings totaling more than 200,000 square feet. Amenities are expected to include indoor community areas, a pool and deck, and a dog park. The apartments will be market rate, not necessarily designed or intended for students, though some students may end up living there.

The Accessibility and Disability Resources Office and the X-Path program encourage you to join us on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 to wear a gray shirt or any Neurodiversity Appreciation t-shirts to show your support for all students, staff, faculty and community members who identify as Neurodiverse. We hope to this will serve as a powerful reminder that neurodivergent individuals, including those with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, Tourette syndrome, and other cognitive variations, bring unique strengths, perspectives, and talents to the world. This is a time to celebrate the beauty of different minds and promote a more inclusive society.

Fall Semester textbook adoptions are due by April 30. This date allows us time to source materials in the most cost effective way possible including hard to find titles. It also ensures that students have all of their materials ready for pickup prior to the start of the semester and they experience no delays. Courses with outstanding adoptions after April 30 will have the material auto selected based on course adoptions made for prior terms.

When Kevin Cekanor came to Xavier in 2015, he detested running, a particularly challenging task because of his dwarfism. On Sunday, the 2019 Musketeer alumnus will attempt to complete his first marathon, with a goal of achieving one of the fastest times ever for a little person. He also aims to raise $26,200 for the Dwarf Athletic Association of America. Read Cekanor's story.

Xavier women's golf was selected to participate in the NCAA Columbus Regional on Wednesday afternoon. The tournament will be played at the OSU Golf Club �" Scarlet Course on May 5-7.
Xavier punched its ticket to the NCAA Tournament by winning the BIG EAST Championship on Sunday, April 21. The Musketeers won their sixth straight conference title by 23 strokes, the largest margin of victory since 2003. The six conference titles are also the most by a single team in BIG EAST history.

Xavier women's golf won it sixth straight BIG EAST Championship on Monday, April 21. The three-day tournament was held at Riverton Pointe Golf and Country Club.
The six conference titles are the most by a single team in BIG EAST history. Xavier posted a 54-hole score of 876 (+12), finishing 23 strokes ahead of Georgetown (899, +35). The 23-stroke victory is the largest in BIG EAST history since 2003 (Notre Dame defeated Miami by 44 strokes).
Emma Welch took home medalist honors for the second time in as many conference championships, posting a 54-hole score of 216 (E). She finished two strokes ahead of teammate Madison Reemsnyder (218, +2).
All five of Xavier's golfers finished in the top-10 at the BIG EAST Championships.
