Shirley A. Curtis, Ed. D. is a Teaching Professor in Xavier University's Educational Administration Masters Program and the Department of Leadership Studies and Human Resource Development Doctoral Program. She is also a consultant for schools as a mentor and advisor for new teachers, administrators, and professional development. She has been an elementary and junior high teacher, math coach, reading specialist, lead teacher, and an elementary principal of state-recognized schools and district of excellence. She was a member of the Ohio Department of Education Academic Distress Commission. Dr. Curtis is a published author, has presented at the state and national levels, and has received federal, state, and local educational grants. She is a recipient of the Milken National Educators Award and Ohio Presidential Award for Excellence. She is known for her strong influence in developing leadership qualities in others, and for her passion for transformational leadership and advocating best instructional practices.
