Irene Hodgson

Dr. Irene B. Hodgson received her Ph.D. in Spanish and Latin American Literature at Purdue University, an M.A. in Spanish Literature at New York University in Spain and a B.A. with honors in Spanish also from Purdue University. She directed the Xavier Academic Service Learning Semesters 2006-2014 and served as Faculty Coordinator in Nicaragua 10 times 1999-2016. She has published articles on Chilean literature and translations of Chilean poetry and testimonies Her published translations include the diary and selections from the homilies of St. Oscar Romero of El Salvador and works by liberation theologians in Argentina and El Salvador. She was awarded the Xavier Alpha Sigma Nu teacher of the year award in 2001.
