Jagan Jacob, PhD
Assistant Professor, Business Analytics and Information Systems
Jagan Jacob is an assistant professor of business analytics at the Williams College of Business at Xavier University. Jagan received a Ph.D. in Business Administration from The University of Rochester.
In his research, Jagan uses mathematical models to solve problems related to revenue management, service operations, and strategic competition between firms. He is especially interested in (1) pricing and design of two-sided digital platforms including ride-sharing platforms (such as Uber and Lyft) and online marketplaces (such as eBay), and (2) equilibrium behavior of strategic customers and providers in services involving queues. He uses techniques and theories from industrial organization, queueing theory, stochastic processes, optimization, mechanism design, and game theory.
He has published in peer-reviewed journals such as the European Journal of Operational Research, Transportation Research Part E: Logistics and Transportation Review, Computers & Industrial Engineering, International Journal of Systems Science: Operations & Logistics, Journal of Modelling in Management, International Journal of Revenue Management, etc., and has presented his research at various refereed/invited conferences including MSOM/POMS/RMP/INFORMS/TSL conferences.
His teaching interests include operations management, supply chain management, logistics and transportation, discrete-event simulation, and business analytics.
