Et Pater Filium-The Art of Printmaking by Michael Adams and Keegan Adams
September 24, 2021
Xavier University and the Department of Art are pleased to present Prints by Keegan and Michael Adams. The exhibition will be on display in the Xavier University Art Gallery from September 24 though October 22, 2021.
Keegan Adams on his work: “My images are done in a journalistic mode to document and distill experiences and events that have deep emotional resonances. The catalysts are varied and include my family history, my experiences living with chronic illness, my Shawnee Native American heritage, evocative texts, and photography. It is an exploration of the philosophy of identity. The process of transforming an idea into a printing matrix is crucial to my work. My practice is adaptable and encompasses printmaking, drawing and photographic collage.” He is currently making mixed-media prints and drawings in Cleveland, OH.
Michael Adams on his work: “My images to date have always been grounded in realism. Color theory has always been a part of every series of imagery that I have created. I have always strived to make the viewer consider more than just the work in front of them. To provoke further thought and consideration from their viewing experience. My latest grouping has been focused on the plight of wildlife and mankind’s effect on their habitat. Even in the most remote regions of the earth man is present. To reduce my carbon footprint I have left behind the inks, solvents, acids, and other waste used to develop traditional printmaking. I need to find ways to do more.”
Join the artists for a closing reception on Friday, October 22, 4:00-6:00 pm.
