Madison Asher, Veronica Graeber and Katherine Wagner Senior Thesis Exhibitions
February 24, 2017
Xavier University and the Department of Art are pleased to present thesis exhibitions by three Senior Art Majors: Madison Asher, Graphic Design, Veronica Graeber, Graphic Design and Katherine Wagner, Fiber Arts. The exhibition dates are February 24-March 10, 2017.
Madison Asher presents Perceptions of Reality, an immersive installation. Viewers are invited to enter each separate space to experience alternate dimensions of social media. The three rooms were created to symbolize the progression social media has on perceptions of reality. The installation starts with the infinite possibilities of the internet, and the excitement of creating a new profile.
Veronica Graeber presents Blk, an installation of posters that explore the idea of containment and release relating to untranslatable language and meaning. The installation invites viewers to contemplate how language and meaning are integrated throughout life’s experiences. Her work is created solely in black and white, allowing for a variety of moods and experiences to be expressed and explored from elation to desperation.
Fiber artist Katherine Wagner presents Centered, an installation focused on the idea of mental wellness and its importance in everyday life. The artist states, “Many people have something that keeps them grounded through the rougher moments in life, that allows them to get through the day. This may be practicing a well-loved hobby, spending time with a close friend, or talking with someone about what’s been on your mind.” This exhibition explores these ideas through the medium of fiber arts, including weaving, dyeing, and quilting.
Please join us for the Artists’ Reception on Friday, February 24, 6:00-8:00 p.m., meet the artists, and enjoy free refreshments.
