ABI/Inform Research (1971-present; much full-text; RefWorks help; XLinks; title list) is a scholarly business periodicals database. It covers nearly 1,400 North American sources, providing information on advertising, economics, human resources, finance, marketing, computers and more. It indexes and abstracts over 9,300 journals, many of them peer-reviewed (4,400), and provides full-text for over 5,300 journals. It also includes indexing and abstracts for books, reports, conference proceedings, etc. Searchable cited references are provided for 1,000 journals. It is produced by and the user interface is provided by EBSCO Publishing.

ACCUNET Multimedia Archive/AP Images (1840-present; updated daily; full-text captions) contains over 750,000 of the Associated Press' best photographs, over 380,000 audio files (requiring RealPlayer) and links to 800,000 full-text articles. About 800 photos are added daily and about 200 photos from the historical collection are added monthly. It includes maps, graphs, charts, logos, flags and illustrations, including 2,000 graphics using Spanish instead of English. Audio files, images and other graphics may be downloaded and used for educational purposes. Educators may search by state and grade level for images applicable to a specific state curriculum standard. It is produced by the Associated Press and the user interface is provided by Accuweather, Inc.

ACD-HNMR Chemsketch (Chemistry Department only) permits the drawing of molecular structures and substructures. It is available in CD-ROM format and is produced by Advanced Chemistry Development. Limited to one user at a time. Contact the Chemistry Department for access information.

Abu-Lughod's Writing Womens' Worlds: Bedouin StoriesACLS Humanities eBooks (Using this resource; all full-text; title list; XLinks; RefWorks help), formerly the History eBook Project, is an online, fully searchable digital collection of 1,500 high-quality books covering all aspects of world history and many other humanities disciplines. Books in this database have been recommended and reviewed by scholars. They are of major importance, remain vital to scholarship and are frequently cited in the literature. Books may include illustrations, graphs, charts, and maps as well as video, sound and music. Restrictions may apply to printing and downloading as specified in Section 107 of the U. S. Copyright Law. It is produced by the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) in collaboration with ten learned societies, about 80 contributing publishers, and librarians at the University of Michigan’s Scholarly Publishing Office. Users can view TV, radio, cinema, Internet, print and outdoor ad campaigns from their desktops. Users can search for ads by keyword, media type, product, brand name, business sector, agency, country, celebrity or award. Ads with and without a shopping cart can be viewed. Advertising Red Books (all full-text; formerly LexisNexis Advertising Red Books) contains information on nearly 18,000 U.S. and international advertisers who each spend more than $200,000 annually on advertising. Each listing includes advertising expenditures by media, current agency, fiscal year-end and annual sales, contact information, brand names, S.I.C. classifications and other key data. It also contains profiles of nearly 14,000 U.S. and international advertising agencies, including accounts represented by each agency, fields of specialization, breakdown of gross billings by media, and contact information on agency personnel. African American Experience (African-American origins to the present; all full-text) is a cross-searchable collection of African-American history and culture. It covers the arts, biography, business, civil rights, education, folklore, history, literature, music, politics, pop culture, science, slavery, sports, and technology. This collection includes the African-American Greenwood encyclopedias, other references books, and 67 Negro University Press texts from the late 1700s to the early 1970s. Primary sources include 4,000 interviews with former slaves (the WPA slave narratives), as well as manuscripts, speeches, court cases, quotations, advertisements, and statistics. Special features include a timeline dating from the 1400s to the present, In their Own Voices audio clips of slave interviews and music, lesson plans, and hundreds of photographs, maps and images. African American Poetry Collection (1760-1900; all full-text; XLinks; title list) contains almost 3,000 poems written by African-American poets. The poetry explores topics such as abolition, children, civil rights, dreams, education, fugitive slave law, Indian raids, liberty, political issues, prejudice and slavery. It includes allegories, broadsides, children's poems, elegiac poems, epics, hymns, odes, patriotic poems and sonnets. The poets are among those included in the William French et al. bibliography, Afro-American Poetry and Drama, 1760-1975. AIDS Subset of PubMed (mid1950s-present; updated daily;some full-text; RefWorks help; XLinks) provides access to worldwide AIDS information in MEDLINE/PubMed from over 5,000 periodicals in medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, health care and preclinical sciences. Select the AIDS subject/subset. Users can also search the NLM Catalog for books and other materials. It is produced by the National Library of Medicine (NLM) and the user interface is provided by the Entrez retrieval system of the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI).

L'Année Philologique (1924-2009; vols. 1-80; updated annually in the spring; RefWorks help), also called Database of Classical Bibliography, indexes and abstracts 1,500 journals and 500 collections and conference papers classified under ancient authors, texts, subjects and disciplines. It includes articles in French, English, German, and Italian, and Spanish. It is published by the Société Internationale de Bibliographie Classique, the American Philological Association and the Database of Classical Bibliography with support from the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (France) and the National Endowment for Humanities (USA). This subscription is limited to 10 simultaneous users.

Annual Bibliography of English Language & Literature (ABELL) (1920-1997; no full-text; RefWorks help; saving searches) is a standard reference work for English studies. It indexes books, articles, critical editions of literary works, book reviews, collections of essays and doctoral dissertations published anywhere in the world. Coverage is international, including articles in languages other than English. ART Collection (XLinks) is part of OhioLINK's Digital Resource Commons and contains 52,855 digital images of works of art from museums around the world. It highlights the creative output of cultures around the world, from prehistoric to contemporary times, and covers the complete range of expressive forms. Images include a broad range of works of the following genres: painting, sculpture, photography, print, drawing, ceramic, textiles, metalwork, furniture, books and scrolls, architecture, and archeological finds. Cultures and time periods represented range from contemporary art, Native American and Inuit art, to ancient Greek, Roman, and Egyptian works, along with Japanese and Chinese works. This collection was formerly organized by The Art Museum Image Consortium (AMICO), a consortium of museums and libraries, but is now licensed directly from individual museums. Arts and Humanities Citation Index (A&HCI) (alternative link; 1980-present; updated weekly; some full-text; RefWorks help; tutorial; citation alerts; saving searches & creating alerts; journal titles) is one of the citation databases included in Web of Knowledge. Click Web of Science and then change Current Limits to search this database separately. It provides current and retrospective bibliographic information and cited references for over 1,130 arts and humanities journals plus individually selected, relevant items from about 7,000 science and social sciences journals. It covers archaeology, architecture, art, asian studies, classics, dance, film, folklore, history, language, linguistics, literary reviews, literature, music, philosophy, poetry, radio, religion, television and theater. Athenaeum Cover Page Athenaeum (1912-1919; all full-text) is a searchable electronic archive of the Athenaeum, a publication featuring original poetry, short stories, essays, text of orations, editorials, news, reports, and graphic artwork by students from St. Xavier College in Cincinnati, Ohio. Intended both as a news and literary publication, this work covering over 1700 pages is of historical significance in reporting the early years of St. Xavier College at the Avondale location. It was scanned in 2010 from microfilm copies. Users can browse individual issues and years or search the full-text content. The microfilm version is housed in the library’s archives. It covers the Bible, church history, ecumenism, ethics, missions, pastoral ministry, religions, religious studies and theology as well as religion and religious research in related fields such as antiquities, anthropology, archaeology, business, history, law, medicine, philosophy, psychology and sociology.
