Weekend MBARequirements & PoliciesAcademic StandardsMBA projects and final course grades are based on the following scale:
A=Excellent, B=Good, C=Average, F=Failure, M=Incomplete, AU=Audit, W=Withdrawal, VF=Vanish/Fail All MBA course grades are used to calculate the grade point average, including the foundation skills courses. To be in good academic standing, you must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 (on a 4.00 system). Grades below "C" are not accepted for graduate credit. If your GPA falls below 3.00 at the end of the semester, you will be placed on academic warning. While your cumulative GPA is below a 3.00, any additional semester GPA below 3.00 will be grounds for dismissal. Two unacceptable grades ("F") will be grounds for dismissal from the MBA program. You will not be granted credit for any course in which you receive a grade of "D" or "F." If the course in question is a required MBA course, you may repeat it. You may only register for a single course a maximum of three times without special permission from the MBA director. AdvisingThe director of MBA enrollment services and the director of the MBA program are both available for advising on scheduling and other program matters. Contact the MBA office for an appointment. Repeated CoursesA course previously taken for credit may be repeated. You may not register for the same course more than three times, including withdrawals. The credit hours of the repeated course are counted only once. While all grades are entered on your official academic record, only the most recent grade will count toward your grade point average, even if it is the lowest. Waiver for Foundation Skills CoursesFoundation Skills courses may be waived if you have completed similar courses within the last five years at an accredited undergraduate institution with a grade of "B" or better. Course content must be comparable. Undergraduate catalog course descriptions and/or course syllabi may be requested in support of waiver consideration. Also, each Foundation Skills course may be waived by successfully completing a waiver exam. The exam can only be taken once for any course. Contact the MBA office for scheduling details. Transfer CreditXavier participates in a unique partnership with other accredited Jesuit MBA universities located in many major metropolitan areas. This partnership allows the receiving university to accept all comparable coursework completed at the original institution with a grade of "B" or better. The degree will be awarded by the university where more than half the core program was completed. From all other institutions, a maximum of six hours of transfer credit for upper level and elective courses may be accepted toward the MBA degree. All transferred coursework must be approved by the director of MBA enrollment services or the associate dean and be a grade of "B" or better. Graduate courses used to complete one degree will not be used again for credit toward the MBA degree. The grade and quality points for credits transferred from another institution will not be included in your grade point average. Application for DegreeDegrees are awarded at the end of each semester. When nearing graduation, you must submit an application for graduation to the office of the registrar prior to the application deadline published in the schedule of classes. If the degree requirements are not met by the time of graduation, you must re-apply for the next degree granting date. The graduation application fee is paid only once. Time LimitationsYou have six years from the first date of attendance to complete the entire MBA program. If all coursework is not completed within this time frame, you may be asked to re-apply and be subject to revisions of your original program requirements. RegistrationXavier MBA graduate students may schedule classes through the office of the registrar located in Alter Hall, next to the Williams College of Business. You must add or drop courses with the registrar. The bursar publishes a refund schedule each semester. Please refer to the schedule to avoid payment for dropped courses. |
